What a moment! FC Emmen - ADO Den Haag, last Friday. The players walk onto the pitch hand in hand with children wearing the KLABU Ter Apel Spirit 'Feel at Home'-shirt, designed by 10 year old Alf together with refugee children at our clubhouse in Ter Apel.

The moment is the result of our collaboration with the FC Emmen Naoberschap foundation. With their ‘Welcome to Our Football’ programme they extend a warm welcome to children and families with a refugee background. Every week, coaches organise sports activities at various asylum seeker centres in the region, including Emmen, Ter Apel and Ukrainian reception centres. Sport is used as a tool to have fun, build social connections and create a sense of belonging.
