KLABU spirit at the Marathon

What a weekend to remember! Big love to everyone who ran, danced, cheered and celebrated the KLABU spirit at the NN Marathon Rotterdam.

For the very first time, we brought a KLABU clubhouse to life before it heads to its final home in a refugee camp or city somewhere in the world: a space full of energy, music and connection. Huge thanks to the incredible team at Golazo Group for helping make it all happen.

The NN Marathon Rotterdam isn’t just the Netherlands’ prestigious race - it’s a celebration of resilience and spirit. Last year, Olympic silver medallist and former refugee Abdi Nageeye won in 2:04:45, inspiring countless (refugee) athletes worldwide.

During the marathon weekend, many of you discovered how to join us to change the playing field for refugees. The clubhouse was located on the northern edge of Schouwburgplein, right opposite De Doelen. KLABU partners involved included Rotterdam-based clubhouse architects MVRDV, clubhouse construction partner Tchai, TPV Cares / TP Vision as our partner for Philips televisions and Philips music systems, connection partner Fairphone, and logistics partner Kuehne+Nagel.
There was also something special for all runners who were wearing a KLABU shirt during the marathon or any of the other events. They could swing by our clubhouse on Schouwburgplein for a goodie bag!

We were also excited that Golazo invited our KLABU community of newcomers to join the City Run - a chance to run together, connect and build bridges.

In the course of this year, the KLABU clubhouse will be shipped to its final destination, where it will unlock the power and joy of sports within a new community. Stay tuned for more updates on where it’s heading and the exciting work we’re planning with Golazo!
