In Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, cricket was long seen as a sport for boys. With no formal school sports programmes for girls and strict gender norms limiting access to play, opportunities were scarce... until the Bhalukia Palong High School Girls Cricket Team was formed!

Since 2022, KLABU and its partners Friendship and PSG have focused on increasing girls’ participation in sports in Cox’s Bazar, with cricket quickly becoming a favourite.
With the support of their families, the girls showed dedication, teamwork, and determination, even when training time was limited due to heavy rainfall.

That commitment paid off: in their very first tournament, the team became district champions. “We want to continue to practice and make it to nationals”, says team captain Marwa, aged 15.
We couldn’t be prouder of their Unbeatable Spirit. This is only the beginning!
