ORGANISATION

What makes us different

KLABU creates a self-sustaining business model due to its foundation and social enterprise working together.

The KLABU Foundation takes care of everything on the ground, this involves the inception, erection and maintenance of clubhouses, identifying new possible ways to innovate access to sports, moving KLABU to the people and places it is most needed in the world and working directly with refugee and host communities on the ground.

The KLABU sportswear social enterprise then creates the awareness around projects that the foundation undergoes, and builds the club externally through the creation of team kits, sporting apparel and brand collaborations. Half the profits from sportswear sales go to the KLABU Foundation to run our sports clubs in refugee camps. The other half are reinvested to increase our brand’s impact.

TEAM

The KLABU core team consists of a young dedicated team located at KLABU’s HQ in Amsterdam. We work with local refugee and host communities at KLABU project locations who are part of the wider KLABU team.

We strive for our team to be diverse in experience, culture and heritage to help inform us on how to navigate socially and politically sensitive areas. This is also why many of our team members have experience working within the humanitarian field and some have even lived the life of a refugee themselves.

Our foundation also has a supervisory board who works with us to make sure we are making the biggest impact possible in the lives of refugees while also growing the club in the rest of the world.
