ABOUT THE ARTIST EL SEED
eL Seed is a contemporary artist who uses art to shape hearts and minds. His paintings and art works are both a reflection of the stories of the communities he meets around the world and an echo of the diversity that their voices represent. His mission is an original pastiche of art, philosophy and poetry, aiming at conveying messages of peace, love and co-existence.
His highly sought after artworks are located in communities globally from Paris to Cairo, Lebanon to South Korea, and have been exhibited in many museums around the world including in MoMA New York.
ABOUT THE PRINT
The graphics on this shirt are inspired by a quote from Greek poet Odysséas Elýtis: “Always, always you pass through fire to reach the shining”, which applies very meaningfully to any refugee trying to rebuild a life.
eL Seed found this quote particularly motivating, and created a mural around it while on Lesvos painting the KLABU clubhouse in 2022. His experience with the refugees on the island then moved him to apply the motifs from that piece of urban art to a distinctive KLABU shirt, so you're in essence wearing a museum piece with this one!
ONLY 114 IN EXISTENCE
114 is a significant number - not only the total of individually numbered KLABU x eL Seed shirts available, but also the UN Refugee Agency UNHCR’s figure, 114 million and counting, for the number of people forcibly displaced globally due to war, persecution and human rights violations. You can read more about the background to the eL Seed collaboration here.
There are only 114 shirts available to purchase for a short period, so act now to get your hands on a piece of wearable art and support refugees through the power of sport.
